The mortal remains of Mrs. Gladys Angelina Kwarteng, mother of one of Ghana`s controversial Hiplife musicians, Sidney, known in showbiz circles as `Scent No`, `Obiaa Nye Obiaa`, `Africa Money`, `Apuskeleke` among others, was been laid to rest last week.
The burial ceremony of the late Mrs. Kwarteng, which attracted high profile music icons as well as executives of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), took place last Saturday at the Presbyterian Church in Akwatia.in the Eastern Region.
Music personalities who attended the burial service and who mourned with Sidney included A-Plus, Dr. Poh, Obour, Praye, Abrewa Nana, Omanhene Pozo, King David and VIP among others.
The presence of the Hiplife icons added more colour to the occasion and attracted music lovers in Akwatia and villages around, who trooped to the venue to have a full glare of the artistes they only see on television screens.
Sydney`s controversial latest album `Africa Money`, which seeks to attack African leaders for misappropriation of state funds, has sparked trouble in a compound house in Tamale, as tenants have resorted to playing the song frequently in view of alleged squandering of monies for electricity and other utility bills by the landlord.
The tenants reportedly connived to tease their landlord for such misconduct by playing the song every now and then, particularly at times when he was at home.
Some neighbours who got wind of the reason for the sudden interest in the song in that particular house confronted the landlord, urging him to analyse the song and see whether it was not in reference to his behaviour.
