THE DREAM of Isaac Wilson to join the gospel train has come to pass with the release of his maiden album ‘Yesi Nkete’.
He has a lot going for him. He isn’t a big man ... but he’s got a big voice and a huge heart for God. He is as beautiful on the outside as he is on the inside and has probably never taken a bad photograph in his life.
After being given the rudiments of music right from his childhood to his teenage years, Isaac has blossomed into a very fine gospel musician. This is because the young but enterprising singer with an amazing voice managed to carve a niche for himself from the days of Fun World, where he distinguished himself.
This new gospel artiste with an eight-track album is a great delight to listen to. This young chap, who is a former student of Dawson College in Canada and awaiting results to enter the University, is spending time doing his own thing.
Yesi Nkete (Determination), the title track, is a fast mid-tempo rendered in high- life, with a beautiful rhythm and a great bass tune to match. This song offers great inspiration to all Christians.
The crux of the message to believers is that if the devil was able to frustrate their progress, this time, around they are determined to match him boot for boot.
Yesu Beye (Jesus will do it) is a wonderful piece which brings out his superb creative abilities. In the song, Isaac calls on Christians not to give up but look up to God for solutions. There is nothing Jesus cannot do.
“I’m convinced that what people really want from music and their lives is depth and I feel like I have a responsibility to take them there. So much music today is disposable - the attitudes, the posturing, the styles; but it seems to be less about music than it is about appearance and fashion,” he remarked.
“Now, there’s nothing wrong with fashion. I love that stuff as much or more than the next boy. I just don’t want it to define me. But the deeper things in life - values, relationships, family and my faith in Christ are what are most attractive about a person. And they’re why I sing.” He inspires listeners through ‘Holy Highlife’ (Gospel), and inspirational beats help him do just that.
Growing up with so many difficulties, things could have gone very different for Isaac, but instead of walking the wide road of the world, he chose the narrow path of the Lord.
His lyrics focus on real life because he’s a real person.
This young talented dude is out to do more than just entertain ... he wants to make a difference in the lives of the youth that he meets.
