Tonight an impressive yet unheralded group of alternative music artist will converge at the ‘Hypnotic’ pub for the first concert of its kind in the country.
The organizers are hoping for a heavy-makeover incarnation of a smaller version of the Wood Stock show and are hoping to get plugged on MTV Base should the crew who are flying in on the 29th decide to check out this congress of new rising stars of urban Ghanaian music and spoken word artists.
The new-wave show just might be setting up a platform for live- driven, dance-funk and Hip-Hop hybrids.
“We’ve always been driven, but the level of ambition has definitely evolved over the years,” spokesperson Papa Yaw Annan says. “Our goal is to take control of our environment with the dawn of this new music phenomenon.
If someone can lose themselves in the music we’re playing, so much that they forget about all their worries and how cool they look, then we are succeeding with the project at least.”
Prime Entertainment has been nurturing well-attended open mic sessions across the capital for over a year now and this concert will mark the grand exhibition of Accra’s finest MC’s and poets.
After months of gigs at “crummy all-ages venues,” Prime Entertainment has become the go- to spot for new artists looking for some street hype and flow credentials. Looks like all rave roads will be leading to this new music concert on Saturday.
