Ghanaian hiplife musician Tic Tac is on a roll right now, touching base on MTV Base. Just after performing at the Independence Day concert with Stevie Wonder, the hiplife star has just taken delivery of a brand new video for his hit track, Kangaroo, from the hit new album “Accra Connection”.
The video, directed by acclaimed US director, Gil Green (director of videos for Brandy, Lii’ Jon and Akon), is a product of TV channel MTV Base’s landmark video training workshop held in Accra in August 2006, and was added to the channel’s A-list rotation, where it is being showcased to millions of music lovers across Africa.
Elated Tic Tac comments: ‘It was so cool to be able to be part of this MTV Base Video Workshop project. Having a director like Gil Green to make a video for me is something that I could never have made happen on my own. Having your video played on MTV Base is what we have always aimed at, and knowing that the whole of Africa will see it is a dream come true.’
Hear Alex Okosi, GM and VP, MTV Network Africa: “Kangaroo was shot in August 2006 as part of MTV base’s unique making the Video initiative, which aims to share best practice and forge collaborations between local artistes and directors and top international video crews. We’re delighted by the results of the project which has created a high quality and polished video that does full justice to the vision and artistry of Tic Tac.”
Kangaroo was produced by Martell Rose (producer for Akon, Ben Haiper and Lil Flip), with Director of Photography, Martin Lince and Editor, Pierre Verna.
Ghanaian video directors collaborating on the project included Yahaya Alpha Suberu, King H. Blankson, Agbeko Lucien Masseme, Joseph Botwey, Luureen Addy, Abdulai Awudu, Panji Anoff, QDL, Abraham Ohene-Djan, Gerald Gyimah, George Gyimah, Pan Kow and Francis.
For those wishing to catch the video, it is being broadcast this month on MTV Base on DSTV.
The video is also currently being shown on GTV's Soundcity.
