A member of the Ashanti regional branch of the Copyright Society of Ghana (COSGA) and general manager of JMS music production, Mr. John Mensah Sarpong, has promised a monetary reward of five hundred thousand cedis to any member of the public who provides information on any pirator of Ghanaian Music.
He said this when Ghana Base Music asked him on his views on the recent spate of piracy in Ghana.
He also said this is a step to engage the watchful eyes of the public in the society’s effort to flush out pirates in Ghana.
Last February, a combined team of police personnel and members of the anti-piracy task force of the Ghana Association of Phonographic Industry (GAPI) and Musicians Association of Ghana (MUSIGA) on arrested 20 music retailers and pirates in a swoop at Berekum.
Ghanaian music is becoming too monotonous-Morris Babyface
Ghana’s two times Best Sound Engineer of the year, Morris Babyface has spoken about the increasingly monotonous nature of Ghanaian music in recent times.
“These days musicians only come to the studio, tells the Sound Engineer to make their beats sound like a hit song of another musician, this has therefore created a situation where most of our songs sound similar to each other”, he said.
He urged musicians to creative in their compositions and write catchy lyrics as well. He also appealed to Ghanaian Musicians to give considerations to suggestions which are made by sound engineers whilst recording their Music.
Bawasaba Band Spoils Odo Rize
Last Saturday, could be described as one of the “Jazzy” days in the history of Accra as many music lovers would want to put it.
Music lovers who throng the Odo Rize Jazz Club in Accra were treated to tons of refreshing music by the Bawasaba Band led by Afrikabi Apeh on Drums.
Patrons could not resist the feeling and had to jump onto the floor for a boogie session.
