Fred Nuama, the manager of Ghanaian Contemporary Highlife Star Daasebre Gyamena has stated that, Daasebre Gyamena is innocent and he is optimistic that Daasebre will be set free in May when the final verdict is made.
He said this in an interview when Ghana Base Music asked him how Daasebre was fairing in the UK. Fred hit on so many issues including the controversy over finger prints on the cocaine package.
Fred revealed that, there are about 7 different finger prints on the package, all of which are exclusive of Daasebre Gyamena’s finger prints.
“I believe Daasebre is innocent and he is going to be set free in May. I know Daasebre and I know for a fact that Daasebre is an anti-drug person,” he said.
Asked why Daasebre refused bail, he said Daasebre is even enjoying his peace of mind in Jail, plus Daasebre doesn’t want to be a burden on any of his friends and relatives in the UK as per the pending case.
“Daasebre is doing fine even in Jail, he has event built muscles, he has put on weight and he is even writing songs whilst in jail”, he said jokingly.

Patrons who listen to highlife music on most Ghanaian radio stations would realize that Daasebre Gyamena’s latest album is currently being played on air. One would wonder how this could happen when the owner of the album has been in police grips in UK for the past 6 months.
Ghana Base Music asked Fred what transpired before the release of Daasebre’s new album but Fred was so reluctant to talk so much about this issue. To him getting Daasebre Gyamena out of Jail was his main priority compared to chasing Big Ben as to why he had put the unfinished album out.
One would wonder why Daasebre Gyamena could be in jail and yet his unfinished album he had been working on before his arrest, would be playing on air without the consent of his Manager.
Another school of thought believes that Daasebre went for Money from Big Ben before his trip to UK, and Big Ben fearing that Daasebre might not return to Ghana any sooner, decided to get his album out to recoup the money Daasebre took from the record label….. [Hmmmmm].
But Big Ben claims that the album had been taken to Belgium for perfection and that it was ready for the market. Big Ben also claims that Daasebre’s fans had been yearning for Daasebre’s new album that was why they were forced to bring out the album.
Daasebre Gyamena introduced himself to the Ghanaian music industry in 1999, but shot up into stardom with his sky rocketing single “Kokooko”, which featured the Hiplife star Lord Kenya.
Some of the awards he has won include “Best Contemporary Highlife Song”, “Best Contemporary Album”, “Best Contemporary Highlife Artiste”, “Over All Best Album”, “Best Male Vocal Performance”, “Best Song Writer”.
