Isaac Assan, a.k.a Show Boy’s appearance in TV3’s Mentor 1 made him popular and even after his eviction from the television reality show he was invited to perform at churches and other public events.
Following that success, Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong, a fine gospel musician, decided to team up with him to release an album.
“Isaac sang my song, Osaana, perfectly during the Mentor 1 show. I decided to team up and do a project with him.
Bandex, the music producer, had also called and requested that I help Isaac to come up with something for him to produce, so the time was about ripe for the two of us to emerge with a common product,” Isaiah said.
Onyame Dome is the result of their collaboration. It is an eight-track album designed to inspire and guide Christians through this tortuous life. All the songs were written and composed by the duo.
The songs on the album do not only inspire, but also charge Christians to never fall off in praying to God about their needs because He will definitely come to their rescue.
The tittle track opens the collection with a round sound provided by experienced instrumentalists. Here they declare that God’s love for believers still remain the same and that no matter the circumstances, listeners should hold on to their faith and praise God.
Another track, Atamfo Ntowom Bo, encourages people in distress to cry out to the Lord’s hearing because the devil has no power to destroy them.
Inspiration for this song came from the changed circumstances of Isaac’s life.
On Nnyame Akwan, Isaac and Isaiah call on listeners not to let their past determine who they are because God’s ways are numerous.
Here, Isaac’s rich voice complements the instrumentation, especially when joined by the backing vocal, which I suspect, is that of Isaiah.
Ebeye Wose Dae So is my favourite. One cannot help falling in love with this song and its style of presentation. Sang in Twi, the instrumentation and presentation sound very sophisticated and original.
Other songs on the album are Me Firi Mahohia Mu, Awurade Fie, Nyonkopa and Sunsum Kronkron.
Isaac was born in Takoradi about twenty three years ago. He said he started singing at the age of ten. Seven years later, he realised his talent was in full flow when he became a band leader at Christ The King Catholic Church at Takoradi.
Isaac said his vision is to further his education and become a great gospel musician. “If God helps me, I will set up my own business and help people realise their potentials.”
Isaiah Ampong has already released three albums: Jordan, Osofo Kasa and Osaana. He is from Twifo Nyenasi and worships at North Kaneshie SDA church where he is the leader of the singing group.
