Charterhouse Ghana, organizers of the Golden Jubilee Ghana Music Awards Festival has finally announced the dates for this year’s Ghana Music Awards after an earlier postponement last month.
Speaking with Ghana Base Music, Theresa Ayoade of charterhouse Ghana said this year’s festival is slated for April 26-29.
But one cannot speak of the Ghana Music Awards without the issue of Best Artistes Falling off after the award.
Generally one peculiar feature about it is the fact that, prime winners of the awards usually fail to shine to further after they have won the “Best Artiste of the Year” Award.
This ill-omen, has affected hit music gurus such as Daddy Lumba who was the first to receive that award, the Maestro Kojo Antwi, Tic Tac, Kontihene, Lord Kenya and Obour all of who have at separate ceremonies received the same award.
Last year, Ofori Amponsah a.k.a Mr All 4 Real swept most of the awards including the “Best Artiste of the Year” award, but this year, judging from how his new album faired he is likely to sweep awards again.
With his hit song Emmanuella still receiving mush air time popularity, a song that lots of people still crave at public functions, all could foresee Ofori Amponsah getting ready to break the GMA jinx that has plague top award winners
According to the organizers of the Ghana Music Awards, Charter House, this year’s festival would be in collaboration with the Ghanan@50 Secretariat and promises to be a huge powerful event.
