Ghanaian Hiplife Star Tic Tac has expressed worry over the recent spate of increasing “Payola” wahala in the Ghanaian Music Industry. He made this know when he phoned in to Metro TV’s morning ride last weekend.
“Payola is something that is killing the Ghanaian Music Industry, people with good talents don’t get their music played, only the rich get their music played, its killing a lot of creativity these days,” he said.
When asked as to whether he pays payola this was what he said, “My label has done it for me several times, and the point is I don’t want to die in the system that we live in”.
He was quick to add that some DJs like Billy Ocean played his music for free without taking any payola, yet other DJs took Payola from him.
Tic Tac will performing on the BBC’s one touch track live studio on the 29th of June in London later this year.
His latest album, “Accra Connection” is currently doing so well on the market.
