Ace musician Mac Tontoh of Osibisa fame has appealed to persons or institutions who use the work of Ghanaian Musicians for commercial purposes to do well to reward the owners of these works.
He made this known when he granted audience to Carlos Sakyi’s Ghana Music and Copyright Series last weekend.
Mr. Tontoh said there has been a rising phenomenon in Ghana where the works of Ghanaian Musicians are used on television and radio commercials without prior permission from the owners of these works.
Consequently such users refuse to pay out any rewards or royalties to the Musicians whose music have been used.
He therefore urged Ghanaian musicians to chase such people who use their woks for their money or even sue them upon refusal to pay.
He said users should know that the days when they thought; they were doing musicians some favour by using their works are over and should know that music is now a big business in Ghana
