Music patrons who had been monitoring the Ghanaian musician industry, especially hiplife music would have noticed that Kwadwee’s last album, did not do so well on the market last year. Was it because of poor promotion?
One would wonder how an executive producer in this day and age would invest so much in helping an artist to release an album and yet not do any promotional tours and concerts to increase sales of the album. So then were was Kwadee? Rumours were that he was no where to be found.
The unannounced absence from the music scene, over the last few months, of the creative hiplife artiste, Terry Anaba, known in showbiz circles as Okomfo Kwaadee, generated a lot of speculations in the media and among the general public.
Initial media reports indicated that the young prolific artist had gone mad. However his mangers and handlers were quick to rebuff the story about his insanity, describing it as a mere conjecture and wilful allegation intended to cast a slur on him.
The Kumasi based Kwaadee suffered from a mental disorder but has recovered, thanks to Bishop J.Y. Adu of the New Jerusalem Chapel (One Touch Chapel) located at Sokoban Ampayoo, a suburb of Kumasi. He was admitted at the church for spiritual cleansing and treatment.
Accompanied by his parents and a host of family members Kwaadee recently stood before the congregation to give testimony and thank the Lord for bringing him to his normal life. He claimed that about three months ago he was gripped by the spirit of madness.
He admitted that he was introduced to smoking by friends and cautioned his colleagues in the music industry to be careful adding, “I will no longer venture into drugs, now that I have been set free through the blood of Jesus.”
According to Kwaadee, he intends to release a gospel album to win souls for Christ and sing to campaign against drug abuse. He however maintains he will still sing his normal hiplife tracks.
