A-plus, known in real life as Kwame Obeng Asare, has officially launched his controversial political hit on Accra-based Adom FM and other affiliate stations in the country.
The 30-year-old singer declared in an interview with GO shortly after the launch that although the song had disturbed many in the country, at the moment he has no political affiliation and his intention for composing such a song was purely based on the competence and capabilities of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential aspirant, Nana Akufo-Addo.
In his latest song, A-Plus mentioned that Boakye Agyarko, Arthur Kennedy, Kwame Addo-Kufuor, Mike Oquaye, Papa Owusu-Ankomah and all other NPP Presidential aspirants as well as the entire country, including Ama Benyiwa Doe, National Women`s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would be happy if Nana Akufo-Addo won the flagbearership of the NPP.
One of the NPP aspirants, Mr. Boakye Agyarko felt unhappy about the mention of his name in the song, and is therefore asking that his name be dropped from the song.
However, the musician said if he was one of the candidates and someone said anything like he did in his song he would not be offended, as a he would be happy about a fellow candidate`s victory, to make people see how united their party was.
A-Plus stressed that although he considers all the aspirants to be equally competent and important in the race, the county has reached a stage where it needs personalities such as Nana Akufo-Addo to be projected to another level.
He told GO that it was rather unfortunate that some Ghanaians had taken his political songs as a weapon he is using to victimise a class of politicians in the country, `but that is not that case at all. My songs are based on constructive criticisms of some activities of politicians,` he said.
`The fact that I played a song for Nana Akufo-Addo does not mean that I am an NPP member or sympathiser, not at all. When it comes to politics, it is the national interest we must consider first. I like some personalities in the NDC as well,` he added.
A-plus claimed some politicians by their actions and inactions want to use their money and influence to buy the country or rule but that should not be the case at all.
