Over the past two decades, African musicians have grown their repertoires and perfected their stagecraft. Thus, Africa has also now begun to celebrate her own musicians in eclectic shows, produced to high international standards.
This has evident in shows featuring African chart toppers, like likes of Kojo Antwi, Aisha Kone, Lagbaja, Meiway, Osibisa, just to mention a few. In Ghana there is now a constant thirst for more locally brewed music, as Ghanaian fans are more willing than ever to experience the wave of excitement that these shows bring along.
As has been evident with the huge patronage of locally brewed events like the Ghana Music Awards Series, and the patronage that the new local stars enjoy, an insatiable quest has been created for this kind of locally brewed entertainment.
As such, in celebration of local Ghanaian music and also to encourage the continuous production and performance of live band music, Charterhouse has joined hands with one of Ghana’s most promising young Highlife musicians, Ofori Amponsah to firmly establish an annual show dubbed: Ghana Rocks with Ofori Amponsah and friends! The show is going to be an annual Christmas show which is designed to be the ultimate platform for all successful Ghanaian musicians to perform with a live band and with Ofori Amponsah.
The show will feature a number of local artistes such as Kofi B, Shasha Marley, Daasebre Gyamena, Kwaw Kese and coming all the way from La Cote d’Ivoire the “hei Alhaji” man Jeff Bogolobogo would be gracing the night. The show will climax with Ofori Amponsah who is expected to shake the house and entertain his fans for about an hour with a live band.
When asked why Ofori Amponsah, the organizers were quick to add that “Ofori Amponsah is one young musician who has remained faithful to Ghanaian High-life and sticking to releasing hit after hit and for that matter, has a large repertoire that can entertain his fans for hours when he mounts the stage. Really, he has paid his dues to high-life music so it is just apt to package him well for all of us to enjoy”. So book the date, December 24th 2007
Ghana Rocks with Ofori Amponsah and friends is proudly sponsored by One Touch.
