Piracy is a big issue. True. Ghana is huge on piracy. True. Ghanaians really don’t give two hoots about piracy. Double true. In the past and even more in the present piracy rules have been flouted blatantly. Most get away with it; others too get caught pants down. Such is the case my dear friends, about Roro.
Most of you Hiplife buffs might be all too familiar with this name but might not be familiar with what trails after his name lately: Roro Piracy.
Ofori Amponsah, the man who’s all for real, is real serious about this one. Apparently, Roro has unlawfully remixed “Odwo”, a track from his new album and released it on the airwaves. Now that’s some dirty business. For an acts like Ofori Amponsah who needs no introduction nor does he necessarily need the extra push from DJs to rotate his tracks on their programmes, he most certainly will not be too kind to whomsoever decides and actually pirates his numbers.
The fact of the matter is the Roro has admitted to committing this really heinous offence and doesn’t see anything wrong with it. Roro who usually produces gospel songs has broken more than one commandment in the gospel and is noted in the past for pirating works of A-Plus and Sydney.
That obviously got swept under the carpet. But it’s not possible when you copy and paste that same line to the only R&B/Hip-life legend in the making. No way.
So here’s what Mr. All 4 Real is doing. He’s threatening to sue Roro’s a$$ and that’s no lie.
He could have gone ahead with the remix if he only went through the right tunnel to get there.
Or it might have been overlooked if its airplay hadn’t exceeded the original version of “Odwo”. But since that was not an option, Roro might have to reposition himself for the imminent blow that’s about swing his way.
