Last Sunday witnessed the historic launch of “The Battle” at the premises of TV3. There were live musical performances by 12 contestants drawn from Mentor 1, 2 and 3, at TV3’s studio B, to mark the beginning of the eight-week competition.
The show certainly would be on record as the best of all reality shows on TV3, considering the passion and confidence with which contestants delivered.
The programme attracted a large number of music lovers including the judges of Mentor as well as a section of the media.
The idea of “The Battle” is to bring together the performers and ‘show-shakers’ in all three seasons of TV3 Mentor to battle for the ultimate prize. Finalists of “The Battle” include Isaac, Hakeem, Joe, Kofi, Vic, Cee, Erico, Faya, Paa, K.G, Dela and Prince (Mentor II). As the master of ceremony, Anita Erskine, put it, “the blue stage is no longer the Mentor stage but the battle ground”.
Most of the finalists have recorded albums and shot music videos for their songs, which means the battle-line is drawn for experienced ‘fighters’.
The real battle begins on stage next Sunday, as the public with 100 per cent of voting power would determine who stays or leaves the battle ground.
It’s a great opportunity for them to prove how worthy they are to be part of TV3’s innovation.
The winner of “The Battle” would get a recording deal with a Malaysian record company, a business class round ticket to Malaysia, the shooting of a music video and GH¢3000 cash.
The contestant who would place second would take home GH¢6000 cash and souvenirs. The third and fourth would take home GH¢4000 and GH¢2000 cash respectively plus souvenirs from sponsors.
