A bus carrying members of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has been involved in an awful accident on the Sunyani road. The accident occurred when an Opel Astra vehicle reportedly crossed the bus. The musicians were only twenty minutes away from Sunyani on their way to Accra after their national congress to elect union executives.
Our sources say it took a considerable amount of time for the victims in the bus to get help since the doors of the bus were locked after the accident. The doors had to be opened by force with some metal implements in order to save lives.
The rescue team found some of the victims unconscious and rushed them to the nearest hospital. The injured had to wait for the return of the rescue vehicle to be sent to the hospital for treatment.
It’s too early to ascertain the number of people on the bus, injuries and casualties as the accident occurred less than an hour ago. Showghana.com can however confirm that among the people involved in the accident include ex-president of the union, Alhaji Sidiku Buari, the newly elected second vice-president, Nat Brew (Amandzeba), A.B Crentsil, Prince Osei Kofi and the newly elected general secretary, Nana Kwame Ampadu.
Some members of the media were as well in the bus when the accident occurred. Akwasi Aboagye of Peace FM and Eugene Osafo Nkansah of filla newspaper reportedly bled of injuries they sustained.
