Ade Bantu, a German-based Nigerian musician and six other musicians from Germany, led by Nkechi Mbakwe will on October 16 present a series of programmes, focusing on the experiences of Germans of African descent and Africans, particularly Ghanaians in Germany.
The series would explore a site for African history and identity that is relatively unfamiliar to the Ghanaian public.
The series dubbed “Afro-German: Embracing two worlds”, which is jointly organized by the in Accra is part of the Ghana@50 celebrations.
Ade would also present a documentary film “Yes I Am” featuring Afro-German musicians, at the Du Bios Centre.
According to a press statement issued by Kristie Ad-Gyamfi, Programme Assistant at the Goethe Institut, the concert with Bantu and the Afro Beat Academy band would be one of the biggest.
Ade Bantu sees himself as an Afropean and is constantly inspired by both the African and European continents.
His music is a fusion of Nigerian and African sounds and he combines Afrobeat, Afrofunk, hiphop, Fuji music, dancehall and reggae.
His trailblazing collaboration with the Nigerian Fuji, star Adewale Ayuba won him and his group the prestigious Kora Awards in 2005 as the Best Group – West Africa and Best Group – Africa. Other musicians who would be participating in the programme include Nkechi Mbakwe- Germany, Fati Fode – Guinea Bissau, Ben Abarbanel –Wolff-USA, Stuart Krause – Canada, Daryl Taylor – America and Robert Nacken – Germany.
