Sound Engineering in recent era has gained more value. Any good musician now depends on a good sound engineer for quality sound for his music.
A lot of names have been heard and from nowhere is Andrews Kofi Adu Appiah Kubi aka “AKAAK” has also added his voice to the mass. AKAAK becoming a sound engineer to him is wonderful because he is a musician and a dancer when he was young.
In 1998, he went to CDS recording studio located at North Kaneshie to record his album. After the recording he found many things wrong with the rhythm so he decided to learn and do everything all by himself. Although he was a computer illiterate he never gave up. He visited a friend at an internet café and asked him to teach him how to create an e-mail address. After he became familiar with the computer, he learnt a lot of things on his own without guidance from anybody.
He joined the music school in his Church (The Seventh Day Adventist Church) and he was taught how to write music, arrange, teach others and in general everything about music. After that he had the opportunity of working for H. Royals Studio when the engineer then was traveling abroad. He worked there for a couple of months and when the man in charge returned, he still worked there in the night whilst the man worked during the day.
He decided to open a recording studio “Celetial Midi Tones” with his friend Seth Amo Aforo. There he worked with Isaiah Kwadjo Ampong and the Steps to Christ where they recorded the “Hosanna” album. He also recorded the “I am in Love with Jesus’’ sang by Joe Bless.
Again AKAAK thought it wise to establish his own company and due to this he took that bold step to come out with “Adwene Kese Media Productions” with Adwene Kese records located at Taifa-Burkina Market. He also engages in music/ videos production and graphic designing. He recorded the newest gospel sensation on the block and a nominee for the best collaboration of the year for the Ghana Music Awards 2007.
He has also paired in musical production with Isaac Showboy of Mentor 1 fame and also the new female genre on the scene Cee of Mentor 2. He doesn’t only work with gospel musicians; he also worked with Kaakaa Moto Bi and General Kokato on their “Kaakaa MotoBi” album.
AKAAK has and is still working with some underground artists and he also has plans of coming out with his own album he recorded in 1998-99 that led him into sound engineering. Aside all this music and graphic designing he is also a trained and professional carpenter.
