Two presenters from two Accra-based radio stations: Mile 7 based Peace 104.3 FM and Channel 'R' 92.7 FM in Dzowulu seem to be in some kind muddling.
The presenters both very big on their various radio stations are based on several happenings on different occasions begrudging each other.
Kwasi Aboagye the Darling Boy and D.J (Abodwese) Abio, best friends for more ten years now from the University Ghana Legon where they were all students and stayed in one room, are presently at loggerheads at the time this report was compiled. These two long time friends were not in talking terms.
All started some months ago when Kwasi Aboagye with permission took a tape Nana Agyemang Prempeh, a presenter on Channel ‘R’ which had the voice of Bishop Michael Osei Bonsu in his sick state to play on his "Entertainment Review".
According D.J Agyeman, when Kwasi played the tape on Peace FM he refused to give Channel 'R' credit as source of the tape and afterwards when he was called to explain he refused to accept his mistake but rather went on blowing his own trumpet as degree holder and a graduate of G.I.J. Agyingo said he was not surprised at Kwasi’s behavior at all because he had always known that was how he was.
Quite recently another incident made matter even worse and this time DJ Abio was involved. Reports from DJ Agyeman who claimed he listened to everything attentively said Kwasi Aboagye was making fun of their station Channel 'R' on Peace FM.
Agyeman explained that he overheard Kwasi on air saying Kwame Sefa Kayi didn't know there was a similar program like "Entertainment Review" called "205" on Channel 'R' which has been in existence for over three years now.
To Abio and his people at Channel ‘R’, this is a deliberate attempt by Kwasi Aboagye to ridicule their station, reduce it close to nothing and paint a picture as though nobody even listens to the Christian station.
Last Wednesday on Abio’s program Kwasi Aboagye was the major topic on the show. Starting with Abio the host, he stated categorically on air that Kwasi Aboagye has been his pal for so many years now.
He also stated that he held Kwasi’s hands from Radio Universe to Peace FM and lobbied for him to be employed when the station was opened. Fadda Dickson will attest to this.
Something else Abio said which some people even thought was not really necessary was that he introduced Kwasi Aboagye to Payola something people think is killing the industry.
Abio also said that Kwasi called him after he made the pronouncement that it was just a joke but he thinks this time Kwasi went too far. It was DJ Agyeman’s turn to do justice to Kwasi.
He thus made reference to the old incident and straight away condemned Kwasi’s behavior. He asked whether Kwasi thinks he is going to work at Peace FM forever and where else he can work apart from Peace FM.
He emphasized that he has nothing against Kwasi personally but disagrees with him on certain things. He recalls the last time he met Kwasi was at Mufty’s funeral.
When Kwasi Aboagye was contacted for his side of the story he made no comment. When this reporter pushed him to say something, in his usual calm mood, Kwasi said certain things are not worth wasting time on.
Though both sides are claiming not to have anything against the other, Weekly Fylla can confidently say that things are not the way they used to be before then.
This story is not to keep these two parties apart but to alert whoever it may concern to try and bring these brothers together again.
“Entertainment Review” and “205” are geared towards building the entertainment industry so why would they fight over an industry they are all trying put in good shape.
