Critiques of Stars of the Future talent hunt who have been complaining about the contestants always doing foreign music were proven wrong last Thursday Night @ the National Theatre as the wannabe stars exhibited their versatility in singing local songs.
Dubbed the Republic Day Fiesta, the contestants feted audience to good local Ghanaian songs from top stars like Amandzeba, Kojo Antwi, Akosua Agyapong and Kwadwo Antwi among others.
Starting the show was latest sensation in Ghana Music Irene and Jane, Winner of Stars of the Future II and the Second Runner Up respectively. They performed a track on their yet to be released album.
From the contestants, Sandra Hudson started it all as she performed “mi gboo ei”. She was followed by Justice and Betty who also added good touches to the night’s performance.
Twum Barima virtually caused a mass hysteria that night when he performed Rex Omar’s “di da da”. His performance was so impressive that all the judges including the guest judges gave him thumbs up.
Nobel followed with ‘Dede”, a song originally sang by Nat Amandzeba Brew.
But for the spectacular performance of Twum Barima, FREDRICA Sarfo Asante could have carried the day as she also impressed the audience with a song by Akosua Agyapong.
The guest performance for the night was by the Ghanaian Hiplife Music Duo – Five Five.
The judges for the night were as usual Bibi Brew, Zapp Mallet and Nana King and the guests were Nana Fynna and Nat Amandzeba Brew.
