The eagle has finally landed and the silence has eventually been broken. Their appearance brought nothing but tension and shock to many radio stations already existing in the capital Accra.
A lot of presenters flew from their offices to the newly established Madina-based radio station and some good ones were also poached.
Many questions have been asked about when they are operating fully and also the roles the individual presenters are going to play.
They started with the test transmission on the first of May and for the first time in the history of radio in Ghana, they are the only station which had their test transmission being sponsored for.
The news reading also began on Monday 18th June, 2007 and also to their credit again a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the management of Oman FM and seventeen (17) affiliate stations in all the ten regions of Ghana.
The affiliate stations are also going to benefit the partnership; some radio stations will be receiving equipment for their stations to enhance their work efficiently towards the success of both companies.
The C.E.O of Kencity Media Limited, Honorable Kennedy Agyepong in a meeting with his staff and affiliate stations, exhibited his honest fair-deal and urged all present to handle affairs firmly and also not to take sides in political issues. Again, he also advised them not to see Oman FM as an NPP station. He advised them to report exactly what they see and not to favour any party.
He also advised them to think of Ghana first in all that they do and also not to depict only the bad side of the country to the outside world since everything broadcast on their radio station will be carried live on the internet and other affiliate stations outside Ghana.
After the meeting was a birthday party of the CEO, Honorable Ken Agyepong which he celebrated it together with his representatives of the affiliate stations. In attendance were the management and staff of Kencity Media Limited, some hiplife musicians and close relatives and friends.
Oman FM will hold a free “Akwaaba Bosoε Bash” at their forecourt at Madina Hollywood on the 2nd of July together with all the musicians in Ghana performing with the live band to entertain their listeners and to introduce the full transmission.
The show will be carried live on the radio and also on all their affiliates across the country. Audience will have the chance of meeting all the presenters and staff of Oman FM. Similar events will be organized in all their catchment areas and beyond.
