Beatwaves has learnt that Muftawu Abubakari Mohammed, aka Mufty Dabre did not die a natural death and that he was allegedly killed spiritually by someone who hated him.
It is alleged that the moment he died, blood started coming out through his nose, something which made many presume his death was unnatural.
An independent investigation by Beatwaves revealed Mufty Dabre had been sick since October last year and had visited a number of hospitals several times but doctors could not find exactly what was wrong with him and all medical reports also declared him fit.
A source told Beatwaves that a few months before his death, Mufty had received deaths threats through strange text messages and phone calls but could not state the reason behind the threat.
In one of the text messages, according to the source, the sender indicated he would prove to Mufty that he could make and unmake.
Two weeks to his death, Mufty found a mysterious cockroach in his pants and had to strip naked in the office in a dramatic way before he was able to get the huge cockroach, which was crawling up to his private part.
He however lifted it with his left hand and threw it into a trash outside.
The funeral of the late Mufty Dabre was held on Sunday at his family house at Nii Boi Town near Abeka Lapaz in Accra.
The funeral was attended by family members, friends and sympathizers, including the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Sheikh I.C. Quaye, Kofi Boakye, former Director of Operations, Ghana Police Service, music producers, musicians and radio presenters. People from all walks of life were there in their numbers.
Mufty’s funeral brought activities at Abeka Lapaz and Nii Boi Town to a halt.
The funeral, which lasted for about three hours, forced taxi drivers who plied the Nii Boi Town-Fish Pond-New Achimota route to suspend their operation because of the road block that was placed as a result of the large crowd.
The premises of Peace FM was not left out as friends and Mufty’s fans gathered there for the refreshment, which was organized by the management of the station.
The second of six children, Mufty was born and bred in Accra. He hailed from Bawku in the Upper West Region.
He had his primary education at the Green Memorial Primary and Ham International schools, Odorgonnor, and continued to Accra Academy, where he had his secondary education.
Later, he went to the Accra Training College and Harvard International College.
Mufty Dabre, as he was affectionately known, came into the limelight between 2000 and 2001 when he began his radio career at Radio Universe in the marketing department, and also featured in a popular Ghanaian comedy/drama show ‘Taxi Driver.
He joined Peace FM on the recommendation of a friend in 2003 as producer of a programme. He later became the presenter of Saturday Morning Drive “Gospel Hour” and Sunday “Omo Tuo” on Peace FM.
He owned a production company, D Squared, where he served as the manager of Ofori Amponsah.
Mufty became a household name on Peace FM and though a Muslim, he could inspire his audience with good Christian gospel tunes to make their Sunday enjoyable.
There were many who could not decipher his religious background because of how he handled programmes on air.
Until his death, Mufty who was the manager of some of Ghana’s popular music artistes like Ofori-Amponsah, Kofi Nti and Kofi B, was also a member of the Ghana Actors’ Guild.
Mufty was pursuing a degree programme at the University of Ghana, Legon, where he would have graduated in a year’s time. He left behind a two-year old daughter.
