MAVERICK POLITICIAN and the leader of the United Renaissance Party (URP), Mr. Charles Kofi Wayo last Friday joined the young and talented Ghanaian hiplife Musician Kwabena Obeng Asare, known in the Ghanaian music circles as A-Plus to outdoor his latest album “A letter to Parliament”.
The launch which was well attended by fans of A-Plus and other well wishers, took place at the auditorium of the British council, Liberia road in Accra.
The editor of the Daily Statesman, Gabby Okyere Darko who chaired the function lauded A-Plus for composing songs which raised critical issues about some decisions our politicians make when voted into power.
Also present to give some moral support was award winning hiplife musician Kwabena Kwabena who was featured on some tracks of A-Plus’ album.
Speaking on his album, A-Plus said his aim is not to ridicule MPs, but to keep them on their toes in order to entrench the current democratic dispensation.
Earlier last month, a number of MPs expressed divergent views about the lyrics of A-Plus’ music dubbed “A Letter to Parliamentarians”.
The song raises critical issues about politicians especially those who become insensitive to problems facing the electorates soon after winning their mandate to serve the nation.
In the song, he describes a Member of Parliament, whom he called ‘Honourable Apofee’, who stood in the rain to campaign but refused to get out of his car after winning the election to exchange greetings with his people.
This is by far the fourth “political” album from A-Plus.
