Gospel diva, Christiana Love, says she is not placing too much premium on the forthcoming Ghana Music Awards (GMA) in which she has been nominated in three categories for Gospel Song of the Year, Best Female Vocal Performance and Gospel Artiste of the Year.
"If I win, fine; if I don't, fine", she said.
She said that she was not particularly thrilled by music awards schemes because they do nothing to improve her financial circumstances.
She disagreed with the stand taken by the organisers of Ghana Music Awards (GMA) who said they could not afford cars or cash as prizes for award winners.
Repeating a sentiment that had been expressed earlier by other musicians, Christiana Love said that for GMA, there should be cash prizes for each of the winners to encourage them. "If even they will give a trophy it should be made of silver or gold but not common wood which can fall and crack into pieces".
Christian Love began singing at the age of 18 when she joined Suame Adadea JSS singing group in Kumasi. After school in 1992, Christiana said she became a member of the Assemblies of God church choir, Suame Branch, Kumasi, until 2002 when she got married to Pastor Love Hammond who is the overseer of Life Power Miracle Church at Santa Maria in Accra.
She said her husband wrote her first songs and advised her to come out with an album since she had the voice. "I accepted that challenge and came out with my first album Me Te Ase in 2002.
Just after I finished the album, a producer was waiting for me so I did not go through any frustration in looking for a producer."
Two years after her maiden album, she was out with her second album titled Me Mo Me Nyame Den. That album also was very successful.
Last year she released Awurade Akae Me which has earned her the nominations in this year's Ghana Music Awards.
The album opens with the title song, Se Wa Moo on which Christiana is asking God to intervene in the lives of all believers.
Obia Mfa Wo Thnkoo is also another song on the album. On this, Christiana sings that no one who has placed his trust in God has ever been put to shame so believers should be patient in all things.
Mate Wasee is a prayerful song. In this piece, the singer suggests that people should not give up in life in times of difficulties but they should rather give thanks to Him and God will surely not let them down.
Other songs on the album are Metumi Gyina, Dea Awurade Aye Soso, Awurade Akae Me, Aye Papa and Empa Metiri So.
