I must confess I had not followed the programme named Presenters Guide on TV3 partly because of the time it was shown. How many people would stay up to watch a programme that airs at 12.30pm on weekdays?
Another reason for not watching was because I did not find it interesting as I really did not see the focus of the programme right from the beginning. Was it a show for music presenters, disc jockeys, or what? These were my thoughts.
The telecast time has now been brought forward so I watched last Thursday as seven of the last eight namely Andy Dosty(Angel Radio), Mufti Dabre(Peace FM), Turbo B(Otec FM), Deloris Frimpong-Manso(Top Radio), Ekow Poncho(Solid FM), Yaw Nkrumah (Hot FM) and Black Rasta (Happy FM). The eighth person Wofa K (Radio Gold) was not present, he explained to me later that he wasn’t feeling well.
My view is that whatever process was used to select the last eight must be flawed because under no circumstance can they be portrayed as the best eight radio presenters in the country.
Whichever mind decided that these were the best must have arrived from Mars or some such place, because they are not.
I might have to add that there are some among them who are good presenters and others who are good DJs but the fact is that these are not the best eight.
Then again they may be looking out for something other than being the best in presenting but if it was in the true sense of the word then I beg to differ. I don’t want to name names but there are several presenters (or DJs) out there who did not get anywhere near the last ten and that gives me worries.
My view is that the organizers had a brilliant idea but they apparently had the implementation totally obfuscated. The thinking-through was left to chance and that was the result of this mediocre programme we are presented with.
As a result of this disjointed planning, viewers were left with no choice than to play it up for what they were presented with. Believe me; the country may end up getting a very sloppy choice as the winner of Presenters Guide.
When that happens, if that happens…………….
Lest I forget, should Mackay himself be among the presenters of this programme? I guess not. He is definitely not exciting and I thought he would see reason to hand it to someone else altogether.
But then that is surely a part of the obfuscation, no? Let’s see what happens tonight as the first of the eight is evicted.
