The radio industry in Ghana has become an enviable one. Most youth now look up to certain radio personalities as their role models and mentors.
One such radio personality whom many see as a role model is Gloria Akosua Safoa Kantimpo, whose contribution toward the growth of radio in Ghana is recognized by all.
Probably no radio newscaster or presenter in the country’s capital compares to Gloria when it comes to good voice, news reading and presentation.
She told Beatwaves in a chat that she would not rest until she reaches the top, adding “the sky is my limit. I will work extra hard to maintain the good image I have attained so far as a newscaster. I see myself as a hardworking presenter and always think of satisfying my listeners and admirers in whatever I do”.
She is one of a few talented radio news presenters who have made a mark in the industry over the last few years.
Since her entry into radio, courtesy Life FM and Top Radio at Nkawkaw and Accra respectively, Akosua Safoa Kantimpo has won the hearts of a myraid of radio listeners in Accra and its environs and has become a household name.
Akosua does so well that even when she is not on air she works behind the scenes assisting the presenter of the midmorning show on Hot FM, Yaw Nkrumah, aka Adwumawura during his programme.
“I have been doing my best to reach the top of the ladder and always prepared to meet the challenges ahead of me,” she told Beatwaves in a chat.
Since becoming a radio presenter, Akosua Safoa Kantimpo has worked hard to make her news presentation unique.
Akosua who left Adom FM for Hot FM over a year ago, said she enjoys whatever she does at Hot FM.
At Hot FM, apart from being a newscaster, she also is a panelist on the station’s morning show, Maakye, with Adakabre Frimpong Manso as the host.
On the programme, Akosua handles the newspaper review segment, tit bits and also translates from English to Twi.
She is currently working to introduce a general tit bits segment which would cover health issues, house keeping and relationship among others on the station’s midmorning programme.
