In a few days time, the Ghana Music Awards festival will reach its climax with the Public Awards Night at the National Theatre in Accra.
At this glamorous event, hardworking Ghanaian Musicians who released albums which received favourable response and patronage from the public will look forward to receiving an award for their sweat.
Although, most artistes, both young and old, new and old released albums which became hits during 2006, one artiste who in the opinion many was the real revelation , for that year was King Ayisoba of “I want to See you my father” fame.
Since hitting the music landscape with his hoarse voice and unique physical features, King Ayisoba has become a household name whilst his song is very popular among music lovers.
The album “Modern Ghanaians” which has propelled Ayisoba to prominence in the Ghanaian Music scene has also nullified the long standing notion that traditionally-oriented music cannot make an impact on the music scene.
Although, unconventional, Ayisoba the man with the “Kogo” has established that traditional music can go places, giving the chance.
His stage performance is also splendid, no wonder he performed at all major concerts which took place in the country.
If for nothing at all, Ayisoba deserves to at least grab the award for Discovery of the Year.
